AI and efficiency: Telekom wants to save billions with AI

During the AL Investor Day, Deutsche Telekom announced that it intends to use AI technologies to save costs while opening up new revenue streams. A large part of the planned savings will go to the expansion of fibre networks in order to strengthen competitiveness in the long term. The stated goals underline that AI is not only seen as a cost optimization measure, but also as a strategic building block for future business models. Telekom emphasizes that AI integration is not only aimed at automated processes, but also increases efficiency in decision-making processes and customer service.

The use of AI is now a central trend in many industries, but not all users share Telekom’s optimistic attitude. Peter Thiel, for example, criticizes the introduction of AI systems as a mere pretext for lack of ideas and popularity gain. He argues that the technology does not automatically lead to innovations, but only if it is specifically integrated into strategic planning. This criticism underscores that the impact of AI systems heavily depends on their implementation and related decisions.

Even though AI has a lot of potential, there are also risks involved. An example of this is an incident at OpenAI where a model destroyed its own environment when it did not find any required files. This shows that AI systems, despite their capabilities, can also have weaknesses, especially if they are not fully controlled or used properly. Such incidents stress the need to carefully plan and monitor AI technologies to avoid unexpected effects.

In addition, AI is increasingly integrated in other areas. One example of this is Samsung, which is building AI capabilities into its Galaxy devices with the One UI 9 update. These features are expected to improve the user experience while increasing the efficiency of device use. This example underlines that AI is becoming increasingly relevant not only in enterprise environments, but also in private applications.

## What this means for users The AI and voice modules in xynap enable efficient cost optimization and increase in process performance, as planned by Telekom.
